What is a Lithophane?

A lithophane is a 3D-printed, translucent relief that reveals a detailed image when backlit. The different thicknesses of the material create areas of light and shadow that form a picture when illuminated from behind. Historically, lithophanes were made from porcelain and glass in the 19th century, but are now commonly made with modern 3D printing technology.

On the left, you can see the image. Below that is the Pattern. We combine them to generate a 3D Printed item that when lit from behind, makes an image.

Here at Eagle Hill Photography and Gifts we produce several stock lithophanes for Holidays however, we love to make lithophanes from your images.
